Meet Your Teacher

Boonyod “Benny” Nonthong is a mindfulness teacher, Vipassanā meditation instructor, spiritual advisor, and former Theravāda Buddhist monk with more than twenty years of experience in Buddhist practice, contemplative education, and meditation instruction. His teaching offers traditional depth in clear, practical language for people of all backgrounds.

Training & Experience

Benny completed 34 months of intensive residential Vipassanā and Mettā training at Ngwe Taung Oo Meditation Center in Myanmar, including periods of approximately 18 hours of daily practice. He holds a B.A. in English Teaching from Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, completed the Overseas Dhammaduta Bhikkhus Training Course, Prayok 4 Pāli Studies, and Nak Tham Ek Advanced Dhamma Studies. Since 2022, he has taught diverse communities across Massachusetts.

His Philosophy of Practice

Mindfulness is not merely a meditation technique, but a practical way of living that cultivates wisdom, compassion, and inner freedom. Benny combines traditional Theravāda practice with accessible language and encourages direct observation rather than belief alone—helping students develop clarity, emotional balance, concentration, and insight within their own lives.

Guided Meditations & Teachings

Benny’s first featured recording, Self-Loving-Kindness Meditation, is now available below. This growing collection will also include guided meditations, Dharma reflections, and practical mindfulness teachings. Additional recordings will be added over time.

From Monastic Life to a Life of Teaching

A Life of Practice and Service

Boonyod “Benny” Nonthong entered monastic life at a young age in Thailand, devoting many years to Buddhist scripture, Pāli language, meditation, and contemplative education. His path later included nearly three years of intensive residential meditation training at Ngwe Taung Oo Meditation Center in Myanmar, where he practiced Vipassanā and Mettā meditation under the guidance of senior meditation masters.

Today, Benny continues this lifelong path of practice and service as a mindfulness teacher, meditation instructor, and spiritual advisor. His teaching makes the principles of Theravāda Buddhist meditation accessible to people of all backgrounds, emphasizing mindfulness, compassion, concentration, and direct experience.
